An FAA Practical exam from a designated examiner can see like a daunting task for a new pilot. The most important thing for applicants to understand is that there won’t be any surprises on the checkride. A designated pilot examiner (DPE) is required to follow the guidance of the Airman Certification Standards (ACS) or the Practical Test Standards as appropriate to the certificate or rating being sought.
All of these documents can be downloaded from the FAA website, and if you have a subscription to ForeFlight you can download the documents into the APP so that you have a searchable document to reference during your training.
I conduct checkrides at Elizabethton Municipal Airport (0A9). I do also travel to other locations to provide checkrides. I normally only travel when there are two or more applicants needing checkrides.
